Privacy policy
Last updated 11 September 2026
We collect very little, we sell none of it, and you can have it deleted by sending one email. Here is the detail.
Who we are
This site is operated by [TRADING ENTITY — e.g. "Jane Doe, trading as Why Not Losing Weight"] ([REGISTERED ADDRESS]), the data controller for the information described here. Contact: support@whynotlosingweight.com.
What we collect
If you take the quiz
- Your answers to the six questions. These are held in the address bar of your result page and, if you give us your email, sent to our email provider so we can send you the right diagnosis.
- Your email address — only if you enter it. The quiz has a skip link, and skipping still shows you your full result.
If you buy a book
- Your email address and order details, collected and processed by Whop.
- We never see or store your card details. Payment information goes directly to Whop and is handled under their privacy policy.
Whenever you visit
- Standard analytics: pages viewed, approximate location by country, device type, and how you arrived. We use this to see which parts of the funnel lose people.
- Advertising measurement, where you arrived from an ad, so we can tell which ads led to sales.
We do not ask for and do not want your name, age, weight, measurements, photographs, or any health record. Please do not send us any of that.
Why we are allowed to hold it
- Your consent — for marketing emails. You gave it by entering your email, and you can withdraw it at any time by clicking unsubscribe.
- Performing a contract — for delivering a book you bought and handling refunds.
- Legitimate interests — for basic analytics and keeping the site working and secure.
- Legal obligation — for keeping transaction records that tax law requires us to keep.
Who else processes it
We keep the list of companies touching your data deliberately short:
- AWeber — email delivery. Holds your email address, the tag showing you took the quiz, and a link to your result page.
- Whop — checkout and payment processing for purchases.
- Vercel — hosting. Processes server logs including IP addresses.
- Analytics and advertising platforms — measurement of site and ad performance.
Each is bound by its own agreement with us. Some are based in the United States, so your data may be transferred outside your country under the transfer safeguards those providers operate.
We do not sell your personal information, and we never share your email address with other marketers.
Cookies and similar technology
We use what is needed to run the site and to measure whether our advertising works. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and can opt out of personalised advertising through your device or ad platform settings. Blocking them does not stop you taking the quiz, reading your result, or buying and downloading a book.
How long we keep it
- Email subscribers: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete you, after which we remove you from the list.
- Purchase records: as long as tax and accounting law requires, typically six to seven years.
- Analytics: in aggregated form, which does not identify you individually.
Your rights
Depending on where you live — including in the UK, EU and California — you have the right to ask us to:
- give you a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- correct anything that is wrong
- delete it
- stop using it for marketing
- restrict or object to how we use it, or ask for it in a portable format
Email support@whynotlosingweight.com and we will action it within 30 days. We will not charge you, and we will not make it difficult. If you are unhappy with how we handle it, you can complain to your national data protection authority.
Children
This site is not intended for anyone under 18, our advertising is targeted to adults only, and we do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has given us their details, email us and we will delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes affecting how we use your data will be emailed to subscribers.
